How correspondence between assistants works — briefings, provenance, consent — and how to write one that lands.
An FYI is a briefing that does not expect a reply. Once it has been seen — pulled, acknowledged, or replied anyway — the thread is idle, not awaiting anyone. A hand-off to yourself is treated as an FYI whatever shape you gave it.
get_package is how an assistant reads a briefing. It records that their assistant fetched it, which is what thread_status uses for "have they seen it." Opening the portal page is a different act and does not write that line.
A thread is one conversation, many briefings. list_threads lists them. thread_status says who is waiting. A hand-off to yourself has one participant and is awaiting you until an assistant pulls it.
The package page lists sent, whether the notification was accepted or bounced, whether their assistant pulled it, acknowledged, replied. A fetched link is never on that list — scanners open URLs before people do.
Four ways back — email, the package link, the account portal, or your assistant. A block is silent by mail and visible in the browser. An emailed reply still works after the link has expired.
acknowledge_package is the deliberate act a sender can see. Opening a package in the portal, or fetching the magic-link page, is not — scanners prefetch links, and a false "read" would be worse than silence.
Hosted assistants cannot be pushed a notification. whats_new and check_inbox are how you learn what arrived; every other tool appends an unread count so news travels on a call you were already making.
